Exchanges around the world were honored for being the best at fulfilling the organization’s mission: delivering the Exchange benefit to Soldiers, Airmen, retirees and military families.
Every year, the Exchange’s five regions nominate one small, medium, large and super store as the best of the best. This year, the competition was so fierce that several locations in each category were awarded the Director/CEO Cup, the Exchange’s highest honor.
“We had such an amazing 2018 that we had to go beyond a one store per category approach to properly acknowledge the tremendous work happening at the store level,” said the Exchange’s Director/CEO Tom Shull. “Exchange associates are the heart and soul of the Exchange benefit. The Director/CEO Cup celebrates the hard work and dedication of our teams on the front lines of customer service.”

The Exchange’s President/Chief Merchandising Officer Ana Middleton, Chief Operating Officer Dave Nelson and Senior Enlisted Advisor Chief Master Sgt. Luis Reyes joined Shull to present the awards at the Exchange’s 2019 main store manager/general manager conference in Frisco, Texas.
The Exchange’s pre-audit earnings topped $387 million—$67 million above Plan (the targeted earnings goal) and exceeding last year’s earnings. (Earnings numbers are currently being audited.)
Stores are nominated for the Director/CEO Cup based on customer experience, leadership, business and marketing results, community support and command validation for partnerships and engagement.
