128 Years of Family Serving Family: Angela Peasley, IT Field Support Manager, Europe/SWA
One in a series honoring the Exchange’s 128 years of family serving family.
Who she is: Angela Peasley, IT Field Support Manager, Europe and Southwest Asia Region
Years with the Exchange: 22 years
What brought her to the Exchange: “The Exchange has always been a comfort to my family, especially when we were living overseas. I took my first job as a central checkout cashier in 2001 in Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.”
Where she’s worked: Peasley was hired as a cashier in April 2001 before becoming a senior store associate in the customer service department that June. By October, Peasley moved to hardlines, where she remained for two years. In 2003, she became a cashier supervisor.
In June 2006, Peasley left the retail side and became a computer operator. Peasley’s IT career took off in January 2008 as an end-user computer technician. In April 2012, Peasley was a West Coast field tech supervisor. In February 2015, Peasley joined Exchange headquarters in Dallas as Help Desk support and advanced to mail server administrator in 2017. In March 2021, she became the IT field support manager in Sembach, Germany.
Memorable moment: “My most memorable moment is when I helped set up a mobile field Exchange in Fort Hunter Liggett in Monterey, California, in the summer of 2008. The Exchange opened the mobile unit to accommodate the remote locations in the field by the flight line. There were a lot of troops training at multiple nearby locations. It’s a lot of work setting up and maintaining a mobile field Exchange, but when we found that the service members were extremely grateful for us being out there, it made it so much more worth it.”
Military connection: Peasley’s father and brother served in the Air Force. Her grandfather and cousin served in the Army. Right after joining the Air Force, Angela’s father Don (in uniform at left) served in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with Valor.
Family serving family: “I like working for the Exchange because I can give back to those who are serving and their families. Even though I didn’t join the military myself, at least I can honor those that serve in my own way. Working for the Exchange is not just an organization but more like family and it is a small community. Not only that, but the Exchange is diverse and continues to evolve.”
