POWER

Exchange special emphasis program POWER (Promote Opportunities for Women by Effecting Results) is prepared for a busy 2024 Women’s History Month, including a lunch-and-learn with Dr. Brittany Anderson, assistant professor of urban education at University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

In accordance with this year’s theme, “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion,” Anderson will discuss the topic of “Teaching and Reaching through Everyday STEM Practices” at noon Central Time on March 19 over Microsoft Teams.

Anderson’s research centers on the lived experiences of Black girls and women in relation to their academic, social-emotional and occupational needs. Her book “Gifted Black Women Navigating the Doctoral Process” explores the experiences of Black women doctoral graduates. In 2022, Anderson received a $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation for her research on Black girls with a talent for science, technology, engineering and math in elementary schools nationwide.

Dr. Brittany Anderson, assistant professor of urban education at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, will be the guest speaker for a March 19 lunch and learn.
