At Military Clothing Conference, Exchange Mission Shines

At the convention, managers of the Exchange’s Military Clothing Stores are learning about everything from regulation changes to new uniforms.
For the first time in nine years, 175 Exchange Military Clothing store managers and associates are gathering at a conference to discuss and celebrate the Exchange’s unique mission of outfitting Warfighters and Veterans.
“Military Clothing associates represent the very best of the Exchange’s mission,” said President and Chief Merchandising Officer Ana Middleton. “The care, precision and love they give to each customer is so special. It’s unrivaled—no one does it better.”
Conference attendees also include Exchange region and military leaders; personnel from government agencies such as the Defense Logistics Agency, Army Clothing Services Office and Air Force Uniform Office; and clothing and tactical vendors.

Merchandising Directorate Senior Vice President Anna Iosefo speaks to Military Clothing Store managers.
One focus of the conference near Dallas will be the upcoming rollout of the Army Green Service Uniform and the recent rollout of the Air Force Operational Camouflage Pattern. The Exchange sells uniforms on behalf of the Services at cost and is the official source for military uniforms.
“When a new uniform launches, there is always a big learning curve because of all the military regulations and policies we must follow,” said Dan Koglin, divisional merchandise manager. “The conference is a good opportunity to shine a light on correct procedures on everything from how uniforms should fit to accounting and replenishment processes.”
Military Clothing store associates are strong ambassadors for the Exchange and its mission of taking care of Warfighters, Koglin said.
“We are to live out our mission this week,” Koglin said. “The conference is a time to re-energize and celebrate the team’s success and passion for serving those who serve.”
Other conference highlights include:
- Presentations on Military Clothing store processes from Exchange headquarters and field teams.
- Training session and panel discussions from government agencies and vendors.
- Store and vendor awards.
- Guest speaker Clint Emerson, a retired Navy SEAL, who will sign copies of his new book, “The Right Kind of Crazy.”
