Employee Self Service Gets Sleek New Makeover

ExPost_Employee Self Service Portal Update

After more than 20 years, the Employee Self-Service portal site (ESS) has received a major upgrade to transform the user experience, offering greater convenience, security and functionality.

The refreshed site offers:

  • Easier navigation.
  • An extra layer of security, better protecting associate personal identifiable information.
  • A passport feature, which allows associates taking overseas assignments to add their passport information to the site, streamlining the process for obtaining an official government passport.
  • An awards wall, so associates can view simulated images of award certificates they have received.

Plans to revamp the ESS portal site started a year ago between the Exchange Information Technology and Human Resources Systems.

“The system had become so outdated, it became difficult to find the expertise needed to maintain the legacy system,” said Jerry LeRoy, HQ/IT application programming manager.

Through an exhaustive search, Manee Panda and Pattu Thiruvengadam, two senior software developers, were contracted to provide their expertise in migrating the data to the new environment.

“We took data from our legacy system and meticulously redesigned the site, which was considered cutting-edge a few decades ago, into something more modern and user-friendly,” LeRoy said. “Every line of code was dissected and totally transformed.”

I-Chen Chen, HR Systems analytics manager, says associates will appreciate how easy the new ESS is to use.

“The real advancement lies in modernizing the user interface,” she said. “We’ve made it sleeker, more intuitive and easier to navigate.”

But the new ESS has more than just a pretty face. Enhanced security is a top priority too.

“We’ve implemented top-notch security measures, ensuring user data stays safe,” LeRoy said.
