HR Eager to Hire Military Spouses

FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas – HR Assistant Patricia Mena and HR Trainee John Castaneda talk to prospective Exchange associates at a Hiring Our Heroes career event geared toward military spouses.
As of Nov. 18, 6,256 military spouses work for the Exchanges, 21.3 percent of the total worldwide staff.
“Given these statistics, the Hiring Our Heroes Career event is an excellent resource to obtain quality candidates for positions with the Exchange,” said Wes Abington, HR manager at JB San Antonio, which includes Lackland AFB, Randolph AFB and Fort Sam Houston. “We value military spouses so much that our Spouse Continuity Program allows us to find a spouse a job at the new duty location, regardless of where the military husband or wife is PCSing.”
Hiring Our Heroes, a program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, launched in 2011 as a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses find meaningful jobs.
