The Exchangeโ€™s weekly BE FIT Facebook live broadcasts are continuing in 2021, highlighting the Department of Defense retailerโ€™s commitment to the readiness and resiliency of the military community.

BE FIT ambassador Roy Montez and Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Sonja Berry, the Exchangeโ€™s director of Public Health and Food Safety, lead the live workouts Mondays at Facebook.com/shopmyexchange.

The workouts, which include interval training, core workouts, strength exercises and more, began last summer to promote wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic.

โ€œItโ€™s important to build that commitment to fitness with the Exchange customer base, but itโ€™s also important to reach out to associates and let them know that this opportunity is there,โ€ said Montez, the Exchangeโ€™s strategic marketing manager for BE FIT. โ€œIโ€™ve heard from so many viewers who say these workouts have been valuable to them, particularly during the pandemic.โ€

Several new features are planned for this yearโ€™s workouts, including spotlighting BE FIT items available at the Exchangeโ€”such as kettle bells and resistance bandsโ€”and how they can develop specific muscles.

At least once a month, sessions feature targeted workouts focused on certain muscle groups. Montez also hopes to take outdoor workouts on the road occasionally to area installations as conditions permit.

โ€œThese onsite workouts will be conducted with the Exchangeโ€™s COVID-19 protocols at the forefront,โ€ Montez said. โ€œWe want to make sure people can participate in a safe, secure and sanitized environment.โ€

All sessions highlight proper nutrition, the importance of sleep and recovery, and staying active. Tune in every Monday at 11 a.m. CST on the Exchangeโ€™s Facebook page.

โ€œItโ€™s a highly encouraging, low-pressure environment. Iโ€™ve definitely noticed a difference in my strength and endurance,โ€ Berry said. โ€œIโ€™m particularly grateful that this workout option is available to service members because fitness is still a priority even when our options are more limited in the COVID environment.โ€

Service members and their families share with Berry and Montez how BE FIT Live workouts are helping them progress toward their goals.

โ€œItโ€™s always a good feeling when you hear, โ€˜I wasnโ€™t able to do this last yearโ€”this squat, this lunge, this pullupโ€”without learning those steps along the way,โ€™โ€ Montez said. โ€œBeing able to share what Sonja and I have learned over the years to help people achieve their goals is really gratifying.โ€
