Ralph Fernandes
Assistant Facility Management Office Manager
Kuwait
Mr. Ralph Fernandes has been working with the Exchange for 15 years as assistant FMO manager. His vast knowledge and experience in local procurement sources, carpentry, equipment, refrigeration, electrical and plumbing maintenance have helped to make sure we have all necessary resources to serve our troops. His expertise in finding local sources helped Kuwait Exchange support stores in Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates with local procurement of equipment and supplies. He was instrumental in completing six projects in Kuwait, including Snack Avenue and Hunt Brothers Pizza projects. His commitment to the Exchange and keen drive to find solutions helped save thousands of dollars! Under the Kuwait AOR, he is taking care of four walk-in coolers/freezers, 52 freezer containers, 40 reach-in coolers/freezers and more than 70 other store equipment items. Mr. Fernandes is a true asset to the Exchange, and we thank him for his tireless commitment towards achieving the Exchange mission!
Oliver Morley
Food Service Worker – Charley’s
RAF Lakenheath
Ollie received a customer comment for exemplary customer service: “I arrived at RAF Lakenheath two months ago and anything that can go wrong has gone wrong, to include illness. After visiting the hospital for new medication, I walked across the street to Charley’s for an order of fries. While attempting to pay for the fries, my debit card declined twice. As my eyes teared up in frustration and defeat, Ollie pulled out his debit card to pay for my food. I was extremely moved by this compassionate gesture for his willingness to help a stranger in need. You never know what someone else is going through, so it’s always good to be kind. Thank you AAFES for hiring great people and thank you Ollie for being a great employee and putting the sunshine back in my day, yours was truly extraordinary customer service!”
Lauren Sofia Walters
Boutique Gift w/Flowers Concessionaire
Kaiserlautern Military Community Consolidated Mall
KMCC’s Boutique Gift w/Flowers concessionaire, Lauren Sofia Walters, went above and beyond by providing a heartfelt service to fulfill a special after-hours request. She received a request from the States stating a friend was making a hurried trip to see her critically ill husband. The Soldier was being transferred from Baghdad to Germany, since they were unable to transfer him to Walter Reed. The wife wanted flowers for when she visited her husband. Ms. Walters stayed after hours to create a beautiful patriotic floral arrangement. Knowing the wife would be weary from the long trip, Ms. Walters also created a free Welcoming Bath Pampering Spa basket and a matching floral bouquet. In addition to the time, she had already dedicated to this request, she personally delivered all the products to ensure they were there upon the wife’s arrival. This is a pure example of dedication to our community and service!
