Ribbon-cutting for The Cleaners at the Wright-Patterson AFB Exchange.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base lost four dry cleaning and laundry options due to COVID-era challenges in 2021. In early 2024, Services Business Manager Sara Bateman received a request from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Command to bring back the Exchangeโ€™s cleaners.

โ€œDuring COVID, we lost two dry cleaning and laundry lockers and two standalone dry cleaners in the Exchange mall,โ€ said Bateman. โ€œThe Cleanersโ€™ vendor has been in business with the Exchange for roughly 20 years. We welcomed it back in the previous space it held for more than a decade prior to its closure.โ€

Command joined General Manager Adam Shaw, Bateman and Exchange associates to officially welcome back the Quality-of-Life staple at a ribbon-cutting event on July 25. The service gives military families, including the installationโ€™s large retiree community, a convenient option for alterations and laundry services.

The Cleaners has generated more than $5,000 in sales since it opened. Wright-Patterson will also enhance its shopping and dining experience with the opening of Dunkinโ€™ in August.
