Mark Akins has served the military and its community continuously for more than 45 years. With 22 years of active duty serving in the Army Military Intelligence Corps, as a contractor for the Department of Defense and now as a supervisor with the Exchange, Mark has earned several accolades in each of these roles. Mark began his career with the Exchange in 2019 as a seasonal customer experience associate. His hard work and passion for serving those who serve inspired his team. Mark was promoted to supervisor in 2022. He leads his team by example while creating a positive work environment. His team is built on trust and positive reinforcement while he continuously inspires not only his department but teammates throughout the Panzer main store. Mark has led and inspired his team to volunteer to assist other departments within the Panzer main store as well as within the EUCOM Exchange. His leadership and mentorship created successes in his team members’ careers. Just watching his team effortlessly work together while maintaining a positive attitude even during the most stressful times is a testament to his inspirational leadership. Mark has embodied the meaning of serving those who serve.

Marcus went above and beyond in serving our internal customers. When associates had concerns not covered in regular safety meetings, Marcus made time to listen, ensuring that they felt heard and valued. He provided knowledgeable feedback, recapped the concerns, and confirmed that he addressed their needs while offering further support via email. Marcus emphasized a proactive approach and expressed appreciation for their input. Throughout the process, he consistently kept store leadership informed, ensuring alignment and transparency. His dedication fosters teamwork and encourages ownership, making him an invaluable asset to our team.

The Lakenheath main store was fortunate to have Mackenzie transfer under the Spouse Transfer Program to become our softlines supervisor. We like to call her our “Ninja Supervisor” because she carries out her duties quietly and efficiently. Mackenzie ensures that her Center Pad team is knowledgeable and can confidently assist our customers. With continued focus on MILITARY STAR penetration, Mackenzie was instrumental in the Center Pad team achieving 26.3% penetration in Q4 for Department 456. Mackenzie is always willing to lend a hand and is a pleasure to work alongside.
