The Kunsan Exchange has welcomed a first-of-its-kind beauty concession service to the Korean Peninsula.
Braids & Beyond provides the community with a range of services and products including braid, twist and extension services along with specialized shampoo treatments. The shop will stock hair accessories, wigs and hair products.
The Braids & Beyond establishment reflects the vision of the Kunsan Exchange team, which was heavily involved in curating its name, furnishings and ambiance, providing a warm and welcoming space. Before the addition of Braids & Beyond, service members and their families seeking protective styles on their natural hair had to travel several hours to other communities. Now, convenience has come to them.
To celebrate the grand opening, the shop offered light refreshments, giveaways and hosted a ribbon-cutting attended by Mission Support Group Lt. Col. Francine Kwarteng, Chief Master Sgt. Daniel Robinson and 8th Force Support Squadron commander Maj. Jamila Edgerson.
“We are so thankful to our Exchange team and partners in helping us open a new service and provide guidance and support for new ventures,” said Kunsan General Manager Jessica Lynch. “It is so important that Exchanges at different installations be able to find the opportunities that exist in their community and have the ability to create something new with the full support of leadership. This to me is another example of how the Exchange contributes to the Quality of Life and gives back to our Warfighters.”
