Milestones Mean More at the Exchange

Dedicated associates make Team Exchange special. Day in and day out, associates show up with commitment, resilience and pride in serving the military community. That dedication deserves to be recognized in a meaningful way.

That’s why I’m pleased to share an important update to the service award program.

In February, service award amounts were increased across all milestones. This is the first adjustment to award values since 2009. Since then, the cost of everyday goods has risen significantly—about 45%, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Updating these award amounts ensures the Exchange reflects today’s cost of living and recognizes the value of long-term service.

Why this update was needed

A 2023 audit confirmed that while the service award program operates effectively, award values had not kept pace with inflation. This update aligns award amounts with current economic realities while preserving the program’s integrity.

What’s changing

• Increased service award amounts at all years-of-service milestones.
• Updated values designed to limit the impact of inflation.

What’s staying the same

• The overall structure and eligibility criteria of the program.
• How and when awards are issued based on years of service.
• Merchandise gift certificates will continue to be provided (not redeemable for cash).
• Eligible associates will still receive a one-time store discountat select milestones.

The Exchange continues to evaluate opportunities to modernize the program. In the meantime, this update ensures the program does what it was always intended to do—recognize and celebrate the dedication of associates.
