For the seventh year, the Exchange been named a Military Friendly® Spouse Employer by Viqtory Media, publisher of Military Spouse magazine.
The 2019 Military Friendly® Spouse Employer list recognizes companies based on five key criteria: career opportunity and advancement; culture and commitment; hiring and onboarding; military employee/spouse policy and compliance; and military employee/spouse support and retention. The accolade comes as the Exchange reaffirmed its commitment to hiring 50,000 Veterans and military spouses by 2020.
“Exchange associates who are spouses of active-duty service members understand better than anyone the unique challenges of military life,” said Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Luis Reyes, Exchange senior enlisted advisor. “We benefit daily from their experiences and perspectives and are honored to welcome military spouses into the Exchange family.”
In all, the Exchange employs more than 6,000 military spouses, comprising 21 percent of the workforce.
Military Friendly® sets the standard by measuring an organization’s commitment, effort and success in creating benefits and employment opportunities for veterans and their families that are both sustainable and meaningful. The Exchange was also named a top Military Friendly® Employer by Viqtory Media in August, making it one of the top 100 employers to earn the designation as being “Better for Veterans and Spouses.”
The 2019 Military Friendly® Spouse Employers list will be published in the January issue of Military Spouse magazine and is available online at MilitaryFriendly.com.
