Daron Payne of the Washington Redskins and DOCS President-AAFES Thomas Montefinese open the new mobile dental clinic at Joint Base Langley-Eustis’s mobile dental clinic.

Soldiers, Airmen, retirees and families at Joint Base Langley-Eustis have a reason to smile a little brighter.

The Exchange opened a DOCS Dental mobile dental office at Fort Eustis on July 8. Patients can receive dental services including checkups, X-rays, cleanings, crowns, bridges, orthodontics, oral surgery and more at the mobile office until it is replaced by a permanent location later this year.

The mobile clinic can serve three patients at a time.

โ€œHealth, including dental health, is critical to military readiness and resiliency โ€“ Soldiers and Airmen canโ€™t deploy if they donโ€™t have a clean bill of dental health,โ€ said Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Luis Reyes, the Exchangeโ€™s senior enlisted advisor. โ€œBringing the dental office inside the gates makes it easier for service members, retirees and their families to access this vital health service.โ€

The Exchange operates permanent dental offices at Forts Irwin, Hood and Stewartโ€”with plans to expand to more installationsโ€”but the JBLE location is the first mobile office. The mobile office is housed in a 53-foot-by-34-foot trailer and can serve three patients at a time.

Increasing health and wellness services is a focus of the Exchange.

โ€œIt can be difficult for members of the military community to find time and transportation to get to off-installation medical appointments,โ€ Reyes said. โ€œThe Exchange is aiming to make living a holistically healthy lifestyle easier and more affordable for the nationโ€™s heroes and their families.โ€
