When a new U.S. military installation opens, the Exchange is sure to be close behind.
Soon after Prince Sultan Air Base opened in Saudi Arabia in July, the Exchange began bringing rodeos—box trucks fitted with Exchange merchandise—a few times a week to the troops assigned there, while working toward opening a larger retail location.
On Dec. 19, the Exchange celebrated the grand opening of a full contingency store, where Airmen and the military community can shop for snacks and toiletries in a 4,000-square-foot tent.
“The Exchange’s mission is to go where Warfighters go,” said Col. Scott McFarland, the Exchange’s Europe/Southwest Asia commander. “When our heroes are serving far from home, it’s important for the Exchange to be there to provide little comforts and necessities that make life better.”
The Prince Sultan Exchange offers snacks and protein, such as beef jerky, as well as energy drinks and nutritional supplements. Airmen can also buy charging cords for mobile devices and gaming consoles.
“The Exchange is honored to provide a taste of home to the community at Prince Sultan Air Base,” McFarland said.
