From the Military Clothing Conference: New Army Uniforms Take the Spotlight

ArmyGreens

At this week’s Military Clothing conference near Dallas, managers and associates are learning about this year’s Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) rollout, expected to start this spring.

The AGSU will become the everyday service uniform for all Soldiers, who must have the uniform by Oct. 1, 2027.

The AGSU resembles uniforms worn during World War II and intends to inspire today’s Soldiers by identifying with the “Greatest Generation.”

To prepare for the rollout, the Exchange has ordered more than 21,000 uniforms and required accoutrements, said Dan Koglin, divisional merchandise manager.

“Military Clothing stores will be the official source for the AGSU,” Koglin said. “Uniform specifications, regulations, fit and the rollout plan will be discussed during the conference. By the time the uniform rolls out, Military Clothing associates will be the experts, helping Soldiers look their best.”

The current Army Service Uniform, often called Dress Blues, will return to a formal dress uniform. The AGSU will become the everyday business-wear uniform for all Soldiers.

Can’t be at the conference in person? The Exchange Post and associate social media (@ExchangeAssoc on Twitter and @ExchangeAssoc on Instagram) will share highlights throughout the week. Don’t forget to check out the Flickr album, too!

I love the new uniforms that harken back to days of national unity and purpose. My father was Battalion Sargent Major, 7th Field Artillery at Armored RTC Fort Knox, Kentucky during WWII.
As I am now in my 8th decade, I remember well the Eisenhower Jackets and 50 mission crush hats. Thank you for honoring his memory and those of the greatest generation.
