Exchange Earns U.S. Veterans Magazine’s ‘Best of the Best’ Honors for 9th Year in a Row
The Exchange has once again been named a top employer of Veterans in U.S. Veterans Magazine’s annual Best of the Best list, marking nine straight years the Exchange has received the honor.
“The Exchange intentionally seeks out Veterans to join our team because we know what an asset they are to any organization,” said Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Kevin Osby, the Exchange’s senior enlisted advisor. “We hope this recognition by U.S. Veterans Magazine will encourage more Veterans to come check out the great careers the Exchange has to offer.”
Veterans make up about 10% of the Exchange’s U.S. workforce, and more than 1,900 Wounded Warriors have been hired since 2010. Hiring Veterans and military spouses is a key focus for the Exchange—more than 54,000 have been hired since 2013, and the Exchange is committed to increasing that number to 75,000 by 2026.
“Approximately 85% of our associates have a military connection,” Osby said. “That’s what sets us apart from other retailers. The people who shop in Exchanges around the world are not just customers to us, they’re family.”
The Exchange seeks out Veterans through its Veterans Retail Management Training program, job fairs and other outreach events. The Exchange also gives hiring preference to honorably discharged Veterans, disabled Veterans and military retirees below the rank of major or its equivalent.
The Exchange made the U.S. Veterans Magazine list in the category of “Top Government and Law Enforcement Agencies.”
