The Army & Air Force Exchange Service celebrated the completion of a more than $2.5 million upgrade to the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth Express, reopening the store after a nearly yearlong closure for the renovations.

NAS JRB Fort Worth Commanding Officer Capt. Mark McClean helped Exchange officials, including Chief Operating Officer Jason Rosenberg, Senior Vice President of Real Estate Mike Smietana, West Central Region Vice President Stephanie Burns and NAS JRB Exchange General Manager Kelly Tolefree-Sarmiento cut the ribbon on the 2,800-square-foot convenience store Nov. 29.

โ€œThe Exchange is always looking for ways to improve service to the service members and families who sacrifice so much to serve this Nation,โ€ Rosenberg said. โ€œWe are excited to bring these new conveniences and amenities to the NAS JRB community.โ€

In addition to new fixtures and graphics, upgraded beverage coolers and polished concrete floors, the Express now features Hunt Brothers Pizza and Eddie Peppers quick-serve programs, an expanded Snack Avenue, self-checkout registers and an expanded retail sales floor to include a selection of sports nutrition offerings. The Expressโ€™ fuel pumps have also been revamped and rebranded, now offering TOP TIER™-certified Valero branded fuel.

โ€œI think [the Exchange] did a phenomenal job. โ€ฆ I couldnโ€™t be more proud of you guys, and I just want to thank you right here for all the support youโ€™ve given to the base,โ€ McClean said. โ€œI think youโ€™re going to get a return on investment, not only financially but in the morale of all these men and women who serve our country.โ€

Construction for the upgrade was funded by Exchange earnings. 100% of Exchange earnings support the military community, including critical Quality-of-Life programs that make life better for those who live and work at NAS JRB.

โ€œWe are honored to further enhance the quality of life for NAS JRBโ€™s service members and families with this updated Express,โ€ Tolefree-Sarmiento said. โ€œThe storeโ€™s new look brings a modern shopping experience to the convenience and tax-free savings the NAS JRB community has long enjoyed, and the addition of a Hunt Brothers Pizza and Eddie Peppers means shoppers can even get a quick bite in when they stop at the Express.โ€
