Exchange Director/CEO Recognizes More Than 20 JBLE Associates for Hard Work
Exchange Director/CEO Tom Shull recognized more than 20 Joint Base Langley-Eustis Exchange associates for their hard work in 2022 during a Feb. 27 visit.
“The Fort Eustis and Langley teams exemplify the Exchange mission of serving those who serve,” Shull told associates. “The teams’ enthusiasm and outreach efforts go above and beyond in illustrating our core value of family serving family by working with command, retirees and other groups in coordinating events that boost morale.”
Both stores work closely with command, Army Installation Management Command’s G-9, community service groups retiree councils on community-outreach events such as an upcoming Easter egg hunt, as well as fall festival, a Christmas Parade and more.
“Mr. Shull was so impressed at how we give back to the community, not just through our dividend but by our additional give-back, partnering with these groups on events,” said JBLE General Manager Katy Litterer.
Located in the Hampton Roads area of southeast Virginia, the stores serve a high number of retirees, and Eustis supports a large number of Advanced Individual Training troops.
“We have three different phases at Eustis,” said Eunice Gomez, Eustis store manager. “Based on the phase, trainees have a specific time that they can come to the Exchange. Our biggest sales day is Saturday. Trainees who have been here for more than two months are allowed to go off-base, but the first couple of months, they stay on base, and the Exchange—the food court, the mall area, the main store—that’s where they come.”
Shull and other Exchange leaders were in the Hampton Roads area Feb. 27 through March 1 for a visit to the nearby Dan Daniel Distribution Center, where the Exchange Board of Directors held a meeting March 1 and toured the facility, the Exchange’s largest distribution center.
Shull recognized 13 Fort Eustis associates on Feb. 27 for their good work by giving them a Director/CEO challenge coin. He was accompanied at the presentations by Chief Operating Officer Jason Rosenberg and Chief Master Sgt. Kevin Osby, Exchange senior enlisted advisor.
Later the same day, he presented coins to 10 associates at Langley.
“The contributions of these associates illustrate the Exchange’s versatility and dedication to serving those who serve,” Shull said. “They understand the needs of customers who live and serve in the unique JBLE community.”
