One in a series honoring the Exchange’s 127 years of family serving family.
Who he is: Aubrey Bartlett, systems administrator, Exchange HQ
Years with the Exchange: 15 years
What brought him to the Exchange: “My mom worked in IT, and she retired as a store manager at the Fort Gillem main store in Georgia,” Bartlett said.
Where he’s worked: Fort Gillem; Dobbins AFB; and HQ since 2011.
What he did at first: “I originally started working at the Class Six at Fort Gillem where the Atlanta Distribution Center was,” he said. When Fort Gillem closed, Bartlett relocated to Dobbins Air Reserve Base to begin his IT career.
“I was part of the base closure, so relocating became a reality,” he said. “I knew opportunities to move up with the Exchange were good, so I pushed myself toward IT and became the computer operator at Dobbins.”
What he does now: Systems administrator at HQ. “As a systems administrator, I monitor and install software,” Bartlett said.
Memorable moment: “Being out in the field was most memorable for me,” he said. “It always felt nice seeing the customers smile when I was able to help them.”
Best part of the job: “Meeting the challenges and solving problems are the satisfying parts of my job in IT,” Bartlett said.
Family serving family: “We take care of each other as a team as well as those who serve,” he said.
