The military community lined up last month, eagerly awaiting the grand opening of the Dunkinโ€™ at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center.

The Hohenfels community has been eagerly awaiting a coffee and bakery option for some time. The restaurant is the Hohenfels communityโ€™s first coffee and tea shop on post, and a popular breakfast option alongside Bun-D, Subway, Hunt Brothers Pizza and Burger King.

โ€œI am truly thrilled to have Dunkinโ€™ here in Hohenfels,โ€ said Staff Sgt. Jonathan Lujan of the 1-4 Infantry Regiment. โ€œWe have been wanting a coffee spot for so long and now you guys are bringing my favorite, Dunkinโ€™! Thank you so much!โ€

The Exchange had been working with Dunkinโ€™ contractors in allocating a good space for the store after seeing its success as a Dunkinโ€™ food truck on the base before the pandemic on a roving schedule.

More than 50 diners attended the 8 a.m. ribbon-cutting, which was led by U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria Command team Col. Kevin Poole and Command Sgt. Maj. Alexander Yazzie, Dunkinโ€™ Region Manager Kathrin Cerone, Exchange General Manager Brian Smith and Services Business Manager Patricia Jamison.

The Joint Multinational Readiness Center is a training post located in Bavaria, Germany. The center hosts multinational troops, training more than 60,000 service members each year.

Dunkinโ€™s opening day saw more than $3,590 in sales and served 265 customers, selling 772 doughnuts. The Dunkinโ€™ bakery, located in Nuremburg, was prompted to ship a second batch to the Dunkinโ€™ store after doughnuts sold out by lunchtime.

Dunkinโ€™ serves coffee, breakfast and lunch items every day until 6 p.m. Along with Hunt Brothers Pizza, it will be one of two Exchange food concepts open on Sundays.
