In the mood for something different? Cannon Air Force Base welcomed a new restaurant on base as Something Different Grill opened on Oct. 25.

The ribbon cutting was attended by 27th Special Operations Wing Deputy Commander Col. Brent A. Greer, Cannon BX General Manager Joanne Bedford and Something Different Grill owners Leonard and Christy Vandenberg.

Something Different Grill features a variety of teriyaki bowls, wraps, pastas, loaded baked potatoes and more. Attendees were provided free food samples at the grand opening.

“We are excited to have this new and exciting food offering for our service members, families and visitors,” Bedford said. “Something Different will be a unique and popular option on base and we’re happy to welcome them to the community.”

Originating in Portales, N.M., Something Different has four locations in Texas and two in nearby Clovis, N.M. The Cannon AFB location is the restaurant’s eighth overall and first on a military installation.

Anyone with base access, including visitors, can dine at Exchange restaurants. Shopping and dining at the Exchange supports the Cannon community, as 100% of Exchange earnings are reinvested in military communities through support for on-base Quality-of-Life programs, as well as capital improvements, such as Something Different Grill.

Something Different Grill, located at 101 Cunningham Ave., Bldg 1230, is open 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
