Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Exchange unveiled its newly renovated North Troop Express convenience store with two new dining options for Airmen and Department of Defense civilians.

502nd Force Support Group Deputy Commander Lt. Col. Gina Schneider joined General Manger Mikel Hunter and Express Store Manager Michael Wood to cut the ribbon on the $2 million project Feb. 15, officially welcoming the new and upgraded features to the community.

“The new additions to the Express will provide enhanced access to a variety of dining and convenience shopping needs to the Lackland community,” Hunter said. “The Exchange appreciates the support and partnership of Command to improve the Quality of Life for service members and their families.”

The Express—designed to modernize and improve the shopping experience for active-duty service members, their families, Veterans, retirees and Department of Defense civilians—welcomed quick-serve restaurants Hunt Brothers Pizza and Hot Stuff Kitchen. New to the Express dining lineup worldwide, Hot Stuff Kitchen offers breakfast sandwiches and bowls; chicken sandwiches and tenders; burritos; cinnamon rolls; and more.

Upgrades to the shopping experience included new murals added throughout the store; updated lighting; new paint; polished concrete flooring; an expanded Snack Avenue with sports nutrition items and better-for-you snacks; and four relocated self-checkout kiosks to provide more space for shoppers.
