Whether at home or halfway around the world, tax-free shopping and military-exclusive pricing are a tap away with the My Exchange app.

Work on the app began in 2023, alongside the broader effort to re-platform ShopMyExchange.com. During this time, the mobile app team also began documenting requirements for new mobile capabilities. Re-platforming involved moving the website to a newer, more modern system. This process updates both the visible user interface and the behind‑the‑scenes technology, creating a stronger foundation that improves performance, supports growth and makes development more efficient.

“The app is the result of dedicated collaboration, thoughtful design, thorough troubleshooting and extensive testing by multiple teams,” said Exchange Director/CEO Tom Shull. “Special thanks to Chad Lucas and his IT team, Eric Sidman and his Merchandising teammates, David Lemons and e-commerce, Antra Pande and the rest of the mobile application team as well as associates in Loss Prevention, the Exchange Credit Program, General Counsel and Finance and Accounting. The culmination of these efforts marks a significant milestone in the evolution of shopping with the Exchange, enhancing support to the heroes we serve.”

App users can sign in using their existing ShopMyExchange.com credentials and immediately access the full online assortment at prices identical to those found on the website.

“What began as a concept is now a fully delivered capability,” Lucas said. “Modernizing our platforms to enhance speed, reliability and convenience is essential to meeting the evolving expectations of our shoppers and advancing the Exchange’s mission.”

Continued investment in the app will deliver greater convenience for the military community—making it easier to shop, access benefits and stay connected to the Exchange across both online and in-store experiences

“In the future, we plan to bring even more in‑store shopping features to the app,” said Pande, Exchange senior digital experience manager. “That includes helping shoppers navigate the store, using the app to make payments at the register and enhancing the post‑purchase experience with tools like package tracking and AI‑powered support.”

Available for free download from the Apple App and Google Play stores, the app makes logon quick and navigation easier. Shoppers can now bypass the browser, shop and track MILITARY STAR® card rewards points straight from the mobile application.
