One in a series spotlighting Veteran and military spouse associates, who bring unique experiences to the Exchange mission.
For Air Force Veteran Dre’Shoun “Dre” Wallace, service has always been rooted in logistics—and that mission continues today at Exchange Headquarters.
Wallace is a business analyst in Logistics, a role that matches up with his military background. He served four years in the Air Force, stationed at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, where he worked in logistics supporting daily operations.
“I’m doing very similar work now,” Wallace said. “It feels like a natural continuation.”
Wallace joined the Exchange five years ago, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many associates who onboarded remotely, he experienced a unique start—building relationships and learning his role from home before transitioning to the office.
“That transition back has probably been the biggest change since I’ve been here,” Wallace said. “But it’s been positive the entire time. Whether working remotely or in person, the environment has always been supportive.”
After leaving the Air Force, Wallace was drawn to the Exchange because it allowed him to continue serving the military community—just in a different way.
“The Exchange is an easy transition for Veterans,” Wallace said. “You go from serving the military to serving military families. It’s very rewarding and feels full circle.”
That perspective shapes how Wallace approaches his work. As someone who shopped the Exchange while serving, he brings a customer-focused mindset to logistics decisions, thinking about what service members and families need after long days of work or training.
“I’ve been that customer walking into the Exchange,” Wallace said. “Now I’m on the other side, helping make sure the right products are available.”
For Veterans considering a career with the Exchange, Wallace has simple advice.
“Go for it,” he said. “The Exchange actively welcomes Veterans. It’s another team, another culture—one that’s inclusive and supportive. I’m very appreciative of my time here.”
At the Exchange, heroes don’t just shop here—they continue their mission here.
