Exchange Credit Program Senior Vice President Joseph Todd on the set of "Military Makeover With Montel."

When โ€œMilitary Makeover with Montelโ€ came calling, the Exchange Credit Program answered for the military community.

Exchange Credit Program Senior Vice President Joseph Todd, a Veteran who served with distinction as an Army combat medic, appeared during a segment on the national home improvement series to discuss the MILITARY STAR card and the value it provides for who serve and have served. The episode premiered April 2 on Lifetime TV and the Armed Forces Network. You can watch Todd’s segment here.

โ€œAs MILITARY STAR grows and expands, we are looking for new opportunities to promote the card and bring awareness to the benefits we offer,โ€ Todd said. โ€œThis was an opportunity we took to reach Veterans who may not know yet the MILITARY STAR card is available to them.โ€

Honorably discharged Veterans who can shop at ShopMyExchange.com and service-connected disabled Veterans with in-store privileges can apply for the card as part of their hard-earned Exchange shopping benefit.

โ€Military Makeover with Montelโ€ is hosted by Montel Williams, who served in the Navy and Marine Corps and was the Emmy-winning host of โ€œThe Montel Williams Showโ€ from 1981 to 2008. Montelโ€™s current Lifetime television series follows Veterans and their families through home renovation projects.

โ€œThis program really changes Veteransโ€™ lives and honors them with a complete remodel of their home,โ€ Todd said. โ€œThe show serves someone we serve, so weโ€™re serving the same customer. Our whole goal was fully about the card and its benefits it offers to Veterans.โ€

MILITARY STAR offers fair and flexible terms, such as an industry-low APR rate of 13.74% and free shipping at ShopMyExchange.com. Cardmembers also receive a 10% discount on first-day purchases and earn unlimited 2% rewards, earning a $20 digital rewards card for every 2,000 points.

During the segment, Todd spoke about the cardโ€™s history.

In 1979, Congress approved military resale credit services to protect authorized shoppers from payday loans and rent-to-own schemes. Today, the card is a vital tool in helping the military community strengthen financial health while responsibly building credit.

As for the filming experience, Todd said it was one he wonโ€™t forgetโ€”he nailed his segment in just two takes.

โ€œIโ€™ve been in front of cameras before, but never to that extent,โ€ Todd said. โ€œI walked away with true appreciation of what it takes to produce TV because I had no idea the level of expertise required to create a show. It was an eye-opening experience.โ€

Todd said the appearance marks a significant step in further developing MILITARY STARโ€™s brand.

โ€œAn appearance like this for the MILITARY STAR card is significant in increasing our brand recognition and tapping an untapped market to get the word out about who and what the MILITARY STAR card is about,โ€ Todd said.
