One in a series honoring the Exchange’s 131 years of family serving family

Who she is: Pacita Petrucci, customer experience host, Mildenhall BXtra at RAF Mildenhall

Years at the Exchange: Nearly two

What brought her to the Exchange: As the spouse of a retired Airman, Petrucci was already familiar with the military lifestyle and the sacrifices made by service members and their families. Joining the Exchange gave her an opportunity to serve the military community in a meaningful way while building a new chapter in her career.

Petrucci began her Exchange career as a customer experience host at RAF Mildenhall. From her first day, she found purpose in assisting service members, Veterans and military families with their daily needs while creating a welcoming experience for everyone who visited the store.

“I have been with the Exchange for about two years, and what has kept me here is the opportunity to support the military community while continuing to grow professionally,” Petrucci said.

Serving those who serve: Although she has been with the Exchange a short time, Petrucci says the role has already provided memorable experiences and reinforced the importance of compassionate customer service.

One moment that stands out occurred during a particularly busy day when a customer encountered a difficult issue. By listening carefully, working closely with her teammates and following through until the problem was resolved, Petrucci transformed what could have been a negative experience into a positive one.

For Petrucci, those moments represent the heart of the Exchange mission. Whether assisting customers during routine shopping trips or helping families navigating deployments, permanent change of station moves or other major life events, she sees every interaction as an opportunity to make someone’s day a little easier.

Military connection: Petrucci’s connection to the military extends beyond her role with the Exchange. Her husband honorably served 20 years in the Air Force before retiring.

“As a military spouse, the experience has given me a deeper understanding of the sacrifices, challenges and resilience that come with military life,” she said. “Frequent moves, adapting to new environments and supporting loved ones through deployments have taught me flexibility, patience and perseverance.”

Those experiences shape the way she approaches her work.

“Working for the Exchange has given me a greater appreciation for the military community and the importance of service,” Petrucci said. “Through my interactions with service members, Veterans and military families, I have gained a deeper understanding of the sacrifices they make and the challenges they face.”

Family serving family: For Petrucci, family serving family reflects the bond shared throughout the military community.

“”It represents understanding the unique experiences, sacrifices and challenges that service members, Veterans and their families face and being committed to helping them in meaningful ways,” she said.

That commitment motivates her each day.

“Supporting the military community means giving back to those who sacrifice so much for our country,” Petrucci said. “It means providing excellent service, understanding the unique needs of military families and helping create a welcoming and supportive environment.”

Whether she’s helping a customer at the fuel pumps or offering a friendly smile, Petrucci knows every interaction contributes to the Exchange mission.

“I take pride in knowing that my work helps support those who serve and their loved ones,” she said.
