The Exchange is making life more convenient for Camp Humphreys’ Soldiers and families with the unveiling of the Midtown mini mall at the installation in South Korea.
The new mini mall is located near family housing and will bring the convenience of the Exchange even closer to Camp Humphreys’ families.
The complex is the latest step in the continuing transformation at the installation, which is doubling in population as U.S. forces relocate from other installations in South Korea. As the Army shifts its priorities to Camp Humphreys, the Exchange is committed to supporting the growing installation with more stores, restaurants and services.
Barber shop to bike shop
USAG Humphreys Commander Col. Scott Mueller joined Exchange leaders in celebrating the opening of the nearly 27,000-square-foot mini mall with a ribbon cutting, traditional Korean dance performance, face painting, music by a local band, sweepstakes, giveaways, free samples and more on Sept. 20.
The complex features an Exchange Express with fuel; Subway, Smoothie King and Bun-D restaurants; and a barber shop, car care center and bike shop.
“The Midtown mini mall is going to help the Exchange better fulfill its mission of serving our heroes,” said Exchange General Manager Scott Bonner. “For service members and their families serving overseas, the Exchange can provide that taste of home which means so much to our shoppers.”
Plenty of BE FIT options
As a partner in the Healthy Army Community initiative under the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Exchange is dedicated to supporting troop readiness and resiliency with better-for-you choices at its restaurants and Express locations. The Midtown mini mall restaurants all feature healthy, BE FIT eating options.
Shoppers can also find a full assortment of BE FIT-approved entrées and snacks in the updated Express, including fresh fruit, yogurt and gluten-free meat snacks.
All BE FIT-approved entrées have fewer than 500 calories, while BE FIT-approved snacks have fewer than 200 calories. Soldiers can find more better-for-you options, such as wraps, salads, hummus and hard-boiled eggs.
For hot food on the go, Soldiers and families can also enjoy quick-serve dining at Hunt Brothers Pizza in the Express, the first in the Pacific Region.
Up-to-date design
Both the mall and Express feature the Exchange’s most up-to-date design, including new exteriors, signing, paint and fixtures. All store facades have been upgraded and rebranded, and the Express boasts an improved layout that moves the cash registers from the middle of the sales floor to the left of the store’s front entrance, maximizing convenience.
The $7.8 million mini mall construction was financed by the Republic of Korea and outfitted by the Exchange.
