Exchange Sweepstakes Grand-Prize Winnerโ€™s $5,718 MILITARY STARยฎ Bill Paid in Full

TINKER AFB, Okla. โ€“Anita Armstrongโ€™s holiday purchases at the Tinker Air Force Base Exchange in November were special because she was shopping for her nine grandchildren.

She never dreamed her purchase was special in a different wayโ€”it was one in 6 million.

Armstrongโ€™s purchase was among 6 million entries in the MILITARY STARยฎ fifth annual Your Holiday Bill Is On Us sweepstakes, in which five lucky military shoppers have their entire holiday bill paid in full.

โ€œI was glad I was sitting down when we got the call,โ€ said Armstrongโ€™s husband, retired Tech. Sgt. Michael Armstrong, who served in the Air Force for 20 years.

‘It was a great Christmas’

Central Region Senior Vice President Marla Smith and Exchange Vice President, Credit Operations, Tommy Ward, presented the Armstrongs with an oversized check for $5,718.17โ€”their account balanceโ€”during a Feb. 28 ceremony.

The gifts they bought for their nine grandchildren helped the Armstrongs to celebrate the holidays with their entire family.

โ€œWe were lucky enough that all our kids and grandchildren were able to be in the city at the same time,โ€ Armstrong said. โ€œIt was a great Christmas.โ€

The Armstrongs, who live in Oklahoma City, often browse the Exchange whenever they are waiting for a prescription to be filled next door, typically restocking on household supplies and vitamins. They enjoy the savings on bigger items, too, like their washer and refrigerator.

โ€œCanโ€™t beat the prices, plus you donโ€™t have to pay taxes,โ€ Armstrong said.

Honor to thank shoppersย

The Armstrongs turn to ShopMyExchange.com for an even greater selection.

โ€œItโ€™s an honor for the Exchange to thank shoppers like Anita and Michael for their service to our country,โ€ Ward said. โ€œWe truly have the best customers in the world because our customers are our heroes.โ€

During November and December, shoppers automatically earned an entry in the Your Holiday Bill Is on Us Sweepstakes every time they used their MILITARY STAR cards at any military exchange, ShopMyExchange.com, myNavyExchange.com or at the commissaries. The Exchange collaborated with the Navy Exchange, Marine Corps Exchange, Coast Guard Exchange and the Defense Commissary Agency to sponsor the sweepstakes.

The MILITARY STAR card is an exclusive line of credit for service members and their families to use at exchanges and commissaries โ€“ no matter where they serve.
