The Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Blind Services recently presented its 2019 Exceptional Employer Award to MacDill AFB’s Exchange Recruiting Manager Veronica Mueller for the team’s commitment to hiring those with disabilities.
The Exchange was one of 12 businesses recognized by the agency at the 14th annual award ceremony Oct. 11 at Tallahassee City Hall.

The MacDill AFB Human Resources team hired three associates from Light House for the Blind this past year. In total, the MacDill Exchange employs 36 associates with disabilities. They work as customer experience associates, food service workers, sales area managers, laborers and stockers, among other positions.
“They are dedicated individuals who enjoy coming to work.” Mueller said. “They perform well and own their positions.”
Human Resources Assistant Myrna Smith was also instrumental in the team’s relationship with their partners. MacDill actively works with Light House for the Blind and the Florida Division of Blind services to ensure active employment of individuals with disabilities.
Mueller was nominated for the Exceptional Employer award by the Florida Division of Blind Services.
“The MacDill Exchange is honored to employ individuals of all backgrounds and abilities.” said MacDill Exchange General Manager James Clark. “The associates we have hired through these organizations are hard-working, integral members of our team.”
