The Exchange is bringing tastes of home to service members and their families as DoorDash delivery service rolls out to several Army and Air Force installations.
The Exchange’s DoorDash pilot program launched at Fort Hood this spring while seven other installations (Forts Carson, Bragg, Bliss, Gordon, Sill, Lee and Joint Base Lewis-McChord) have since introduced the service as well. DoorDash is set to come to Forts Campbell, Belvoir, Drum and Eglin AFB in July, with several more locations planned throughout 2021.
Since launch, DoorDash has processed more than 40,000 Exchange restaurant orders.
“We’re thrilled with the initial success of DoorDash,” said Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Kevin Osby, the Exchange’s senior enlisted advisor. “More than 70% of Soldiers and Airmen are under 30, so this is tailor-made for them and their families.”
Bringing DoorDash to Army and Air Force installations is an Exchange strategic priority for 2021 and strengthens Quality-of-Life by offering convenience for busy military families.
“A little extra convenience can make a big difference in everyday life on post,” said Col. Karin Watson, Fort Lee garrison commander. “We very much appreciate AAFES for bringing this new service.”
DoorDash is limited to Exchange restaurants and deliveries are made only to addresses on the installation. Orders are assigned to delivery drivers already on the installation to eliminate base access challenges.
