Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s Starbucks team set up a surprise Valentine’s Day date for their coffee shop regulars, Joe and Claire.
The couple walked into Starbucks on Feb. 14 and spotted their table adorned with red and pink Valentine’s décor, a special card from each associate and a sign that read, “Happy Valentine’s Day Joe and Claire.”
“They are a very loved couple who come in our store at least three times a week,” Store Manager Dorte Wendell said. “Joe will walk Claire to the table, pull the chair out for her and then come up to order. He greets every employee by name, every time.”
In keeping with their routine, the couple completed a crossword puzzle together over breakfast, then read the love notes from the Starbucks team and took photos with associates.
“We adore them so much,” Wendell said. “We just wanted show our appreciation.”
The couple expressed their gratitude to the team with their best advice for a long-lasting relationship: Take care of each other, kiss a lot and be considerate of each other.
