Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson’s installation hospital welcomed Rhea’s Food Park on Aug. 9.

JBER’s 673d Air Base Wing Commander Col. David J. Wilson, Exchange General Manager Keola Chan, Rhea’s owner Jason Smith and Services Business Manager Dahlia Haliburton were in attendance for the grand opening.

This is the restaurant’s second location at JBER, joining the Rhea’s inside the main food court.

“The JBER Exchange is happy to welcome Rhea’s to our base hospital after a long period of planning,” Chan said. “Providing better-for-you food options for the entire patient community helps make our hospital an even more premier facility for our service members and Veterans.”

The hospital, home of the Air Force’s 673d Medical Group, provides care to JBER service members as well as nearly 160,000 Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs beneficiaries.

“This grand opening in our hospital showcases how working with partners like the Exchange helps deliver increased capability to our installation,” Col. Wilson said. “This is about taking care of our hard-working medical team and offering nutritious options to our service members, their families and the Veterans seen at our hospital. I’m very pleased with the amount of work that went into this project.”

Rhea’s Food Park offers a revamped menu at the hospital location with better-for-you options including a salad bar, protein bowls and breakfast burritos. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
