Exchange Leads Rodeo Mission in North Kosovo
Camp Nothing Hill is a remote installation in Northern Kosovo, nearly two hours away from Camp Bondsteel. The nearest shopping alternative is about a 45-minute drive and leaves Soldiers at a disadvantage when it comes to accessing essentials. To make matters even more complicated, this region of Kosovo faces high tensions between the Serbian minority and the Kosovar Albanians, including a recent attack against the Kosovo police in September.
But none of that stopped the Exchange from bringing much-needed support and a morale boost to these troops.
Camp Nothing Hill’s site manager, Spc. Kevin Kett, requested Exchange support to the site on Oct. 11 from the Camp Bondsteel store. Once the Exchange team received the wish list of items, they were able to execute a rodeo operation only nine days later.
The Exchange coordinated with the camp’s military police unit to escort the team transporting merchandise onto Camp Nothing Hill. The rodeo mission was a success, and Soldiers purchased hygiene items, snacks and drinks.
“No matter the circumstances, the Exchange is here for the troops,” Exchange General Manager Gino Rakas said. “We understand the need for support in remote locations, and we do what we can to fulfill that need.”
This story is exactly the reason why I am proud to be part of the Exchange family. Further driving the mission of: “We go where You go… – regardless of location, risk or challenge.”
