Unmanned Retail Market Opens to Serve Airmen at Truax Field Air National Guard Base

Service members and contractors at Truax Field Air National Guard Base can now enjoy snacks, beverages and more on the go with the newly added unmanned retail market.

The Exchange debuted its first unmanned retail market  Dec. 11 during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Truax Field Air National Guard Base in Madison, Wisconsin.

115th Fighter Wing Deputy Commander Col. Timothy Guy, Chief Master Sgt. Michael Alvarez, Exchange General Manager Douglas Everett and Services Business Manager Shanique Catlett unveiled the new self-serve market, providing snacks, beverages and more for Airmen and visiting contractors on the go.

“The market gives the community at Truax Field a curated, convenient shopping experience in support of their lifestyle,” Everett said. “We are proud to serve the best customers in the world and appreciate the support of Command.”

The market is next to the Exchange’s barber shop inside the former Exchange mall building and is accessible 24 hours a day to authorized shoppers.

      The unmanned retail market is a self-serve store. Shoppers can visit the unmanned retail market, select merchandise and purchase their products at the kiosk at any time during the day.

    Who stocks, can they return aged (bad items). Is it card only transactions? Very curious how this works?

      The market is managed by the Exchange and represents an upgrade from conventional vending machines, offering customers an expanded selection of products in an easily accessible format. The store accepts debit, credit, and cash transactions. Should a shopper require assistance during their shopping experience, they will find contact information for the Exchange Services Business Manager Office listed in the store. Merchandise options vary per store as the selection is curated to shoppers’ needs.
