Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine held a meet-and-greet for service members and their families Thursday at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth BXtra. Irvine, an ardent supporter of the military, spent two hours posing for photos and signing autographs.
โThe reason I do these events is twofold,โ said Irvine. โNumber one, itโs important for me to connect with the Exchange associates because itโs morale-boosting for the people who serve the people who serve. Secondly, spending time with those who serve and letting them know we care is very important.โ
Approximately 150 people attended the meet-and-greet and appreciated Irvine taking time from his busy schedule to spend time with the military community.
โThis is a huge morale boost, especially from someone of his caliberโ said Master Sgt. Lindsay Estell. โItโs really cool that a celebrity like Chef Robert will take time out of his day to support us.โ

Irvine has appeared on and hosted a variety of Food Network shows including โDinner: Impossible, Worst Cooks in Americaโ and โRestaurant: Impossible.โ He operates two restaurants including a Fresh Kitchen by Robert Irvine, located in the Pentagon. Construction for a Fresh Kitchen at Joint Base Andrews began in April and the restaurant is scheduled to open this summer.
โHaving Robert come to NAS JRB is very exciting and the team is excited,โ said NAS JRB Exchange General Manager Diana Krieger. โHe is a huge advocate for our military and itโs very heartwarming to have someone like him come to the Exchange.โ
Irvineโs connection to the Exchange expands beyond military kitchens. His FITCRUNCHยฎ products are available at ShopMyExchange.com and in select Exchange stores as well as his book, โOvercoming Impossible: How to Lead, Build a Team, and Catapult Your Business to Success.โ Heโs also spoken at Exchange conferences, inspiring Exchange associates to take care of others.
