Government services are now more accessible for Airmen and families at MacDill Air Force Base with the opening of the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office at the BX.
The location offers a full suite of services, including driver licenses and ID cards; vehicle registration and title transactions; property tax payments; hunting and fishing licenses; and more—helping the MacDill community save time and complete routine tasks without leaving the base.
The MacDill BX marked the opening with a ribbon-cutting led by Col. Edward Szczepanik, 6th Air Refueling Wing commander; Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy Millan; and Exchange Services Business Manager Sherri Samudio, who were joined by more than 50 local leaders, county and state elected officials.
“Bringing these essential services to the BX is a significant improvement for the MacDill community,” Samudio said. “By collaborating with the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office, we’re making it easier for Airmen and their families to take care of important tasks quickly and conveniently in one place.”
Home to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill AFB sees nearly 17,000 Warfighters, their families and Department of War civilians each day.
The office operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers can walk in, join the waiting list and opt in to receive a text message when it is their turn.
“We think the office will be a big win for the MacDill BX,” Samudio said. “If you’ve ever used these services outside the gate, then you know you may be waiting a long time. At the BX, shoppers can address their other needs while waiting for their turn.”
The office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
