Hickam Starbucks Manager Wins Store Leader of the Quarter
Joselyn Robinson’s philosophy as the Starbucks manager at Hickam Air Base in Hawaii is simple. Train the staff to work as a team and build rapport with the customers.
Robinson’s leadership qualities helped her win Starbucks’ 4th Quarter Store Leader of the Quarter out of more than 200 licensed stores in Hawaii, Los Angeles, and Arizona.
“I felt honored and acknowledged for all the hard work my team did,” Robinson said. “My team built a strong relationship with our customers by simply welcoming them and recognizing their presence.”
Prior to her career with the Exchange, she was a military spouse, married to a U.S. Navy Submariner and raising four children. Now, she has been with the Exchange for 11 years, the past three as the Starbucks manager.
“Working for the Exchange is like having a family who can understand your needs and wants,” Robinson said. “As a military spouse, I am able to share my compassion for the military community and veterans.”
Robinson’s latest venture took her store into new heights and achieved something that has never been done in Hawaii before.
“Joselyn decided to go big for this year’s Starbucks Holiday Launch.” Hawaii Food Business Manager Rochello Reveche said. “She and her team had $29,585 in sales, which is the highest single-day sales in all of Hawaii’s store history.”
Even though Robinson was recognized with the award, she gave all the credit to her team.
“The Holiday Launch was successful because of my team’s effort and leadership’s support.” Robinson said. “We did a lot of planning and preparing getting ourselves ready for a very busy day.”
Robinson and her team’s hard work and friendly smiles didn’t go unnoticed as several customers left comments of gratitude and praise.
“I would like to pass on my appreciation for the great service this morning at the Hickam Food Court Starbucks by the Base Exchange,” one customer said. “Joselyn, Andrea and Matthew made a Monday morning better just by being friendly and welcoming.”
“It’s nice to see real customer-service skills,” another customer said. “I’ve visited a lot of Starbucks on the island, but this one is always my favorite because they spread happiness with their positive attitudes and quick-accurate skills.”
Robinson’s career with the Exchange gives her a sense of belonging and purpose. She can’t see herself being anywhere else.
“Serving our service members makes me feel proud that I’m able to support our Armed Forces, who protect our country and our families,” Robinson said. “I love making customer connections by simply asking them how they are doing and getting them to smile. I always try to make them feel welcomed and appreciated.”
Robinson’s philosophy for her team is simple: “Our mission is to serve happiness in every cup.”
Way to go! Congratulations!
