Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson welcomed back a much-needed service for Soldiers and Airmen in the Alaskan climate on Aug. 11—an on-base car wash.

After more than 10 years, LS Car Wash reopened at JBER near the main Exchange and commissary, next to the Express/class six and Domino’s Pizza.

Air Force 673rd Mission Support Group Commander Col. Erik Dunn, Exchange General Manager Keola Chan, Services Tech Mazie Purdue and Services Business Manager Dahlia Haliburton were in attendance for the ribbon cutting.

LS Car Wash also offers auto detailing by appointment via the LS Auto Detail mobile app, which has proved to be another popular addition for the JBER community, with $22,000 in sales and many positive reactions during the soft-opening period.

“We are extremely thrilled to welcome an on-base car wash back to our installation,” Chan said. “Car washes and auto detailing are in high demand in Alaska, so having easy access to a great facility without having to leave base is a huge win for our Soldiers, Airmen and their families.”

The car wash tunnel is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day. Detailing is available by appointment only 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.
