The Exchange has partnered with Safe LivinG to host interactive events promoting firearms and personal defense.

The free events, open to service members, civilians, retires and military families, promote community safety and wellness, safe and responsible gun ownership and suicide prevention.

At the events, attendees 18 years old and older can visit the mobile range, which applies the five basic firearms safety rules in a safe and realistic environment and fire a pistol or rifle under the supervision of certified instructors.

Participants can also review firearms from top manufacturers, gain greater understanding about the importance of responsible firearms handling and learn more about self-defense tools through interactive demonstrations. Families are encouraged to bring their children for a dedicated firearms safety discussion tailored specifically for young attendees.

The first event, held at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph on Oct. 11 and 12, drew more than 300 participants. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive with many stating that the expertise they received at the event gave them the confidence they needed to purchase and correctly use a firearm.

“These events emphasize the Exchange’s commitment to the health and welfare of the military community by promoting firearms safety and suicide prevention,” said Hardlines Vice President Josh Samuels. “Whether you’re a new or experienced shooter, these events provide great information and safety tips for everyone, including families.”

The next Safe LivinG event is this weekend at Fort Cavazos.

      Hi, Vanessa,

It’s TBD. The Exchange is reviewing potential 2025 events and will publish schedules locally once there is a full listing.
