Despite high winds and 115-degree heat, the Exchange held a successful grand opening Sept. 10 for a new Travel Wifi center at Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center (BDSC) in Iraq.
Travel Wifi specializes in providing internet access while abroad, ensuring seamless communication and convenience. BDSC Director Christopher Lynch, BDSC Dental Clinic Commander Lt. Col. Christopher Torres and Travel Wifi Site Manager Arnold Cortez were on hand for the ribbon-cutting.
Iraq Exchange General Manager Rob Baker said there was a pronounced need for faster, more reliable mobile internet service at BDSC, which is a U.S. State Department installation.
“Installation command requested the service,” Baker said. “We worked with the HQ SFD Advanced Telecom Division [ATD] and our partners at TravelWifi in tandem to bring the service to fruition.”
Baker said that the change represents a significant Quality-of-Life improvement for the BDSC community.
“Previously available internet options were expensive, slow and unreliable,” he said. “But the new mobile internet offers customers with internet speeds up to four times faster and much more reliable than before at an affordable price.
“Having great internet access has an immeasurable impact on Quality of Life, as users can stay better connected with friends and families, be more productive and better entertained even though they are halfway across the world,” he added.
The new service reinforces the Exchange’s relevancy in the area, Baker added.
“Our customers are far from home and in isolated and harsh environments,” he said. “Customers know they can rely on the Exchange to go where they go and provide great service.”
